Island Peak, also known as Imja Tse, is a mountain peak located in the Khumbu region of eastern Nepal

The summit of Island Peak stands at an altitude of 6,189 meters (20,305 feet) above sea level.

Island Peak is located in the Sagarmatha National Park in the Solukhumbu District of Nepal, which is also home to Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world.

Island Peak is considered to be a challenging peak to climb, with steep, icy slopes and technical sections that require advanced mountaineering skills.

Island Peak was first climbed in 1953 by a British expedition team led by Eric Shipton.

The peak is named Island Peak because of its location in the middle of the Chhukung Valley, surrounded by other peaks and glaciers.

The base camp for Island Peak is located in Chhukung, a small village in the Khumbu region

Island Peak is a popular destination for trekkers and mountaineers, who often combine the climb with a trek to the Everest Base Camp.

Climbing Island Peak requires a permit from the Nepal Mountaineering Association, as well as a Sagarmatha National Park permit.

Due to its high altitude, climbers attempting Island Peak are at risk of altitude sickness, which can be potentially fatal if not managed properly.

From the summit of Island Peak, climbers can enjoy panoramic views of other peaks in the Khumbu region, including Makalu, Lhotse, and of course, Mount Everest.
